Resources for Emerging Scholars

These pages represent the beginnings of a compilation of resources for Emerging Scholars in the field of the academic study of Christian spirituality as understood within the contexts of understandings held by the Society for the Study of Christian Spirituality. Though this project spawned from a discussion of the Emerging Scholars group, it is not officially associated with the society, and the resources provided here do not represent endorsements by the society.

As of now, this portal is perpetually "under construction." Presently, these resources consist only of two lists, one of works on the study of Christian Spirituality and another of journals to which emerging scholars might consider sending their work. A page holding some additional half-baked ideas exists here. Comments, suggestions and contributions toward the development of this project are welcome—from both emerging scholars and emerged scholars—emailed to the curator.

Works on the Study of Christian Spirituality

The academic study of Christian spirituality is a hotbed of interdisciplinarity. Many potential emerging scholars come from programs and disciplines outside of religion departments and, more pointedly, outside those few programs which provide training in the discourse and methodologies of this field. The titles listed below represent my best effort to collect materials to help such emerging scholars get oriented to the discourse of this field. read more . . .

Journals in which Scholars of Spirituality Publish

Emerging scholars often feel at a loss when looking for places to send their work to be considered for publication. Though Spiritus is the field's "top" journal, scholars of spirituality certainly publish their work in other places as well. Here are some journals in which scholars of spirituality (could) publish. read more . . .
